Last Monday, November 1st, Governor O'Malley dropped by the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Community Center, where Moveable Feast is housed. The Governor was completing a tour of East Baltimore, visiting various nonprofits and charities.
Accompanying him were two Maryland State Delegates for District 45 (Balto City), Cheryl D. Glenn and Talmadge Branch. Local E. Baltimore community activist Mr. Chris was also present, as well as Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
Governor O'Malley took a tour of Moveable Feast's offices and kitchen. He was there just in time for the morning rush, with staff and volunteers in the kitchen making sandwiches and dipping meals into their containers. He then headed upstairs to the third floor to give a press conference.
Governor O'Malley talked about how far Baltimore has come over the past several years, with reductions in drug-related violent crime and improvements in community resources and job creation. O'Malley acknowledged and lauded the work of local organizations for their key role in the city's changes. This included Moveable Feast. For the past twenty years, we have been a stalwart supporter of the poor, homeless, and those living with HIV/AIDS or breast cancer.
