Give. Share. Change the World.

Starting today, February 22, 2012, Moveable Feast will participate in a revolutionary eight-day global giving campaign spanning more than 60 countries around the world.  “Everyone Gives” promises to be the most extensive and inclusive global giving event ever attempted, benefitting more than 200 non-profits around the globe.

Give
Please support us by making a small donation, as little as $5, to Moveable Feast through the Everyone Gives website.
1) Go to www.EveryoneGives.org
2) Enter "Moveable Feast" to find our tree
3) Pledge your support to us!  --> Be sure to continue onto the Moveable Feast website to complete your donation.

Share
After completing your donation, please tap into your social networks to invite friends, co-workers, clients and family to support us too!

Change the World
Donating through the Everyone Gives campaign creates a tree that tracks the donations received.  We hope being part of this campaign will raise awareness about the needs of our community and the services provided by Moveable Feast.

Go to www.EveryoneGives.org right now and search for the Moveable Feast tree!

Donating is simple and secure, and one hundred percent of all donations made through Everyone Gives go directly to the non-profit selected by the donor.

About Everyone Gives
Everyone Gives grew from a seed planted by the leaders at Colliers International, one of the world’s largest commercial real estate firms.  The idea germinated and grew through collaboration with other like-minded organizations, seeking to create sustainable good.  In this campaign, Colliers International and Moveable Feast join together with hundreds of charities around the world.

“I think of it as a giving tree,” explains Doug Frye, President of Colliers International and a founding sponsor of Everyone Gives.  “One donation becomes five, five becomes 25 and 25 can become hundreds.  And you can track your giving tree and your friends’ giving trees on the Everyone Gives website.”

Cheers: A Taste for Life

Don’t forget that tomorrow, February 23rd, is the second annual A Taste for Life event benefiting There Goes My Hero.  From 6pm – 9pm, at Silo Point's 19th Floor Sky Lounge, enjoy bourbon tastings, fine wines, and craft beers, along with tasty
hors d'oeuvres and one of the best views of the Inner Harbor that Baltimore has to offer. Tickets are $50 in advance or $65 at the door. Click here to register!

A little background:
There Goes My Hero is a foundation that provides hope and nourishment to leukemia patients and their families. Back in December 2010, we partnered with them to be able to provide meals to people living with blood cancers. So your support means a lot to us.

Oh, and please spread the word!

During our first promotion on GiveCorps, a Baltimore-based website guided by the idea of “Give Local. Get Local.,” we reached our goal of $1,000 in one day. Now, we’re trying to raise just $400 more to provide 222 additional meals.

Turning "Likes" into Meals

How can carpet, hardwood and glass translate into meals for Marylanders in need? Floors Etc. is making it happen with your help. Floors Etc. is a local flooring boutique that has been serving Baltimore for 120 years. They’ve been voted “Baltimore’s Best Flooring Company” twice by Baltimore Magazine, and over the next three months, they are taking their customer and community service to a new level: Facebook.

From now until the end of December, Floors-Etc will donate $1 to Moveable Feast for every person that “likes” their facebook page. With our strong network of online supporters, this simple challenge could provide a lot more meals for men and women struggling with serious illnesses. So take a second to “like” Floors Etc.’s facebook page and spread the word!

'Tis the Season...for Workplace Giving!

Moveable Feast is rolling up our banners, copying our materials, collecting our business cards and heading out to represent the great work we do at kick-off events and fairs across the Greater Baltimore region. Every year around this time, government and private employees alike have the opportunity to sign up for charitable giving through payroll deductions. It’s an easy, tax-deductable way to give back, and we encourage you to designate Moveable Feast for your gift (look for us under Community Health Charities!). With our average cost of $1.80 per meal, every $9 donation will provide 5 free, nutritious meals for a man, woman or child struggling with a severe illness. Moveable Feast & Fueling Good

Let the voting begin!

For the next few weeks, we need the power of your click. The folks at CITGO are awarding 12 charities with a gift of a $5,000 Gas Card at the end of this first voting period, and Moveable Feast is registered with the hope of being one of them. We do a LOT of driving to further our mission - 75,829 miles worth just last year. Fuel for our vans = meals for our neighbors in need, and now you can help by voting for us every day from now through August 11!

Click here to vote for Moveable Feast.

Click here to receive daily reminders in your email to vote - we promise not to email you after August 11th.

Dining Out For Life 2011

Dining out at a restaurant has become commonplace in our daily lives.

When we can't figure out what to concoct for dinner, or we don't have time to cook, we simply hop in our cars and drive to the nearest carry-out joint. Easy peasy.

And even when it's a planned excursion, indulging is typical. Spent a few extra bucks on a dessert mousse at that new cafe? Ordered the 16-oz. instead of the 12-oz. steak? Not a big deal - we might go home with a few less dollars in our wallets, but that delightful feeling of fullness? Priceless.

For some, however, that "full" feeling does not come so easily. Moveable Feast is, at its core, a hunger organization that feeds people living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, blood cancer, and other life-threatening conditions. Proper, regular nutrition is crucial to their ability to fight disease.

Our clients are so poor that their next meal is not as simple as "What do I want to cook for dinner tonight?" or "Where can I buy something quick to eat?" Rather, our clients face dilemmas such as: "Where will I find the money to even buy groceries?" or "How will I cook when I'm too weak to get out of bed?" or simply "I have no friends or family. Who will feed and take care of me while I am so terribly sick?"

_______________________________________________________

How can you help? Dining Out For Life (DOFL) is an annual fundraiser to benefit Moveable Feast. Now in its 18th year in the Baltimore Metro area, it is your opportunity to dine out and help those who, without the services of Moveable Feast, would not have the opportunity to feed themselves properly, much less dine out at a restaurant.

How does Dining Out For Life work? Simply dine out at a participating restaurant on September 22nd, 2011. The restaurant will donate 20-50% of your bill to Moveable Feast, in support of our lifesaving nutritious meal delivery programs. And that's it! No extra money spent on your part - simply dine out to save lives.

How can I get even more involved? We are searching for enthusiastic Ambassadors to support DOFL. Ambassadors are stationed at their favorite restaurant (given participatory status and availability) to promote Moveable Feast and DOFL - passing out informational materials, speaking with patrons about our mission, etc. Ambassadors are also expected to help populate the restaurant by encouraging friends and family to dine out. Contact Amanda Fisher (afisher@mfeast.org ; 410-327-3420 x11) if you are interested!

Do you yourself own a restaurant in Baltimore or the surrounding areas? If you'd like to get your restaurant involved in Dining Out For Life, please click here for more information and to register.

What participating restaurants are saying:
  • "Great event for a great cause! It increases business so it's win-win for everyone!" - Clementine
  • "The feeling of goodwill can't be beat. By going full force at 50%, the restaurant at Moveable Feast both win. Most people want to go to the places giving the most." - Woodberry Kitchen

So on September 22nd, join us in Dining Out For Life. Help us to provide that cozy feeling of fullness to our clients that we are so lucky to enjoy!
